In Case of…

As much as we as convention organizers prepare, bad things can happen.  We hope we can help elevate any fears you may have with this page that outlines emergency response plans for any emergency that may arise.

In Case of a Fire Alarm or Emergency Exit Alarm

If the fire alarm is activated, immediately exit the building using designated evacuation plan (see below) in an orderly fashion. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE ELEVATORS!

Be sure to take your personal belongings providing they are readily close at hand.

For those evacuating on the first floor, please follow staff instructions to safe ground in front of the hotel.  For those evacuating from the second floor, please follow staff instructions to safe ground behind the hotel.  When safe, please wait for the alarm to be turned off.   Do not re-enter the building unless the fire alarm is turned off. If the fire alarm is still sounding, it is not safe to re-enter.

In Case of Harassment or Sexual Assault

If you are a victim of, or witness, Harassment or Sexual Assault please report it to a convention staff member or SAPD immediately. There will always be staff members stationed at the two blue stars on the map above.

In Case of an Active Shooter

If you see suspicious activity, please report it to a convention staff member or SAPD immediately. There will always be staff members stationed at the two blue stars on the map above.

Good practices for coping with an active shooter situation include: Being aware of your environment and any possible dangers. Take note of the two nearest exists in any facility you visit. If you are in an room, stay there and secure the door. If you are in a hallway, get into a room and secure the door. As a last resort, attempt to take the active shooter down. When the shooter is at close range and you cannot flee, your chance of survival is much greater if you try to incapacitate them. CALL 911 WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO SO!

In Case of Missing People or Items

If you need to report a missing person that you fear may have been abducted, a missing child, or an at-risk adult, please report it to a convention staff member or SAPD immediately. There will always be staff members stationed at the two blue stars on the map above.

If you are missing an item, and cannot locate it in the last place it was seen, the Lost & Found can be found at the registration desk.  If said item hasn’t been turned in by the end of the convention, please email us at admin@mizuumicon.org.

In Case of Inclement Weather

As all official convention activities are held indoors, the convention will run rain or shine.  In case of weather emergencies such as very heavy storms or flooding, staff will move convention members to inner rooms of the convention away from windows and doors until the danger passes.
